This 12-hour face-to-face course helps trainers learn skills needed to coach clients to behaviour change, be it nutritional, exercise and physical activity or lifestyle behaviours. While fitness professionals are used to being the expert and therefore advise, counsel and tell their clients what is needed to gain weight, lose weight, tone up, get healthy, more often than not, clients don’t follow such advice and therefore do not reach their fitness and wellness goals. We all know that the secret to program adherence is program ownership. Take this course and learn how to build a sense of ownership through coaching clients to find their own solutions that they can stick to.
Course Aims:
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the benefits of coaching versus telling
- Switch between being an expert and being a coach
- Initiate the coaching conversation as well as follow-up conversations
- Use a Life Wheel to help clients identify priority change areas, where they are and where they want to be
- Use powerful questioning to enable clients to find their own solutions
- Help clients become accountable for their action plans
This course has been designed for fitness professionals who wish to improve their ability to help clients commit to needed behaviour change in order to reach their fitness and wellness goals.
